When creating a hub and spoke replication group, the remote spoke folder
name is appended to the hub folders path as demonstrated in the screenshots.
The branch server is the remote site server, also called the "source" server.
The hub server is the local server with the backup system and is called the
"destination" server.
Example:
replication group name: site_backup
branch server.........: dcy
branch folder.........: c:\dfs\remote\
hub server............: dcx
hub folder............: c:\dfs\collector\
hub folder target.....: c:\dfs\collector\remote (auto appended)
In the above example, while entering the information in the hub and spoke
replication group wizard, the branch server folder name is automatically
appended to the folder that you specify on the hub server. The recognition
of this fact before implementing and hub and spoke setup will help you
plan for your directory naming. This "appending" cannot be changed unless
you create a normal replication group and then simply modify the replication
connections to be one-way.
Also note that in the hub and spoke wizard, when it finishes creating the
replication group, the replication connections are "fully connected", this
means that two way replication is enabled. You may want to disable the
replication connection from the hub to the spoke since the spoke is the
primary source of changes when used as a backup method.
