The following commands were extracted from a US Robotics Sportster
data and fax modem. You can usually extract the command set from
your modem using a terminal application. I prefer TeraTerm terminal
but you can also use HyperTerminal supplied with the Microsoft Windows
operating system.
To extract the command set, within a terminal application, connect to
the COM port that your modem is installed on. Instruct the terminal
application to record screen output into a log file. Then, use the $
(dollar sign) of the AT command set. The $ instructs the modem to list
all setting values. So, you will type 'AT$' do query all basic AT
commands. If this doesn't work, and you get an 'OK' returned when you
type 'AT', you modem doesn't support this. You can also query all
commands used with the & (ampersand) with 'AT&$'. All screen output
will be saved in the log file.
